Hi, I'm Steve. I lead design where craft meets technology, building new experiences that help people learn, grow, and thrive.
As a product design leader and creative technologist, I lead the design of new experiences using emerging technology, and build the foundations that support them. I’m a multidisciplinary craftsperson who understands it’s not just about the technology but how craft and technology come together to create magic. I care deeply about the details and building things in service of the people who use them.
At Fetch, I lead interaction and animation strategy where I initiated and own several core pieces of the product experience, including moving our animation system onto Rive and leading creative direction across the app. Before that, I co-founded a studio to work on strategy and game development for GoNoodle. I ran my own creative studio for nearly a decade directing motion and interactive work across dozens of clients, and earlier led end-to-end UX and creative direction on more than ten shipped products at Filament Games.
I believe designers grow in two ways, by picking up skills outside their own discipline, and by learning to see past their own piece of the work. Someone who understands motion or code brings something different to a product than someone who doesn’t, and someone who thinks about where an illustration will actually live, at what size, in what mode, next to what else, catches problems before they become patterns that are hard to undo. It’s a mindset I try to bring to every team I’m part of.
I live in Madison, Wisconsin with my wife. Outside of work, you'll usually find me exploring Wisconsin campgrounds, traveling, learning 🇮🇹 Italian and 🇩🇪 German, or spending an evening playing games with friends.
